"The Richest Poor Man" is a magnificent story! According to my friend who wrote it, it's also based on a true story. The plot celebrates the main character's Mexican culture and his pursuit of the American dream. It's beautifully written, as a dual language (Spanish/English) novella. It's an exciting, fast-moving adventure, with close, personal ties to the American dream. Yet, it actually goes beyond the typical American dream to honor those things which are most important in life. I believe that all who have the pleasure of reading this story will discover how to live life 'in a new light.' Throughout the novella and its surprise ending, the reader discovers that 'there's no place like home' - especially the love which is the key to a true home. Our country desperately needs stories like this! My hope is that one day this story will become a film. Just like 'The Wizard of Oz,' it's already an American Classic. It's extremely well written in a classic style which touches the soul!

Wow! As I began to read "The Richest Poor Man", I couldn't stop till I got to the end! Mrs. Kastrinos spot lighted so many life lessons; having a dream and not giving up on it when no one believes in you or the struggles it will take, with hard work and dedication comes success, and that material things don't matter without love and compassion! This book is a good read for all ages and I love how it is written in English and Spanish, a way of learning to read in a language other than your own. Having drawings in the book also gives it more of the realistic view of the words written. I applaud you Mrs. Kastrinos and thank you for giving us the insight of this true story, for I have taken so much away from reading it! Thank you!

I read this book in one session because I couldn’t put it down. I needed to know how the story would unfold at every turn.
It is written in such a simple manner and I loved that part of it. As well, it felt like I was there…
the simplicity of the story itself and the simple language with which it was written and the place where it takes place makes it really interesting.
There is a real flow to it. There are so many lessons to take away that taking risks and working hard amounts to success, and that at the end of your life you will always remember and cherish the people who showed you love and kindness and not necessarily those you are related to by blood.
